The Department of Civil Engineering at Marmara University was established in 2003 within the Faculty of Engineering under the Deanship of Prof. Dr. Ahmet Alp Sayar and the Presidency of Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Yükselen. The Structural and Geotechnical Laboratory was established in 2012. Until 2020, the department had no active students; in 2020, it began accepting undergraduate students from Istanbul Şehir University as a guarantor university. In 2021, the department moved from the Göztepe Campus to its new campus in Maltepe. Student admissions via ÖSYM (Student Selection and Placement Center) began in the 2025-2026 academic year. Education is provided entirely in English. The department's vision is to train Civil Engineers who possess a strong scientific foundation, analytical thinking skills, and the ability to develop innovative and sustainable solutions to engineering problems, producing projects that meet national and international standards. Fundamental engineering knowledge and application-oriented specialization areas are integrated into the curriculum. Our department aims to train engineers who can design their own projects, effectively utilize technology, and develop new engineering approaches.
